Scholars Abroad…Meghan Stanger’s in Peru!

¡Saludos desde Perú!

Meghan here. Hope everyone is doing well at Tulane and I miss everyone very much. Peru has been the most incredible adventure of my life. I came to Peru with the most basic level of Spanish and it was very hard at first. Now, I can understand most things and speak enough that people understand me. I even have friends that don’t speak any English YAY! The greatest part of my experience has been living with my host family. They are amazing people who have really included me into their family. Whenever we are all hanging out together, time is never an issue and when I return to the states I think I will focus more on my relationships with my family and friends than on other things. In terms of traveling, Peru is a country of contrasts and I have been to the dessert, rainforest, and sierra. There are no words to describe the beauty of many of the places I have been to. In Lima, I volunteer every week at an after school program for children in one of the poorest areas in Lima. I have been helping them with their homework and teaching the professors basic English. Overall, I am very sad that this adventure is coming to an end but look forward to seeing y’all in NOLA!!!

Besos!
